Snacking with The First Years
Food is a big part of our day. Our little ones are full of energy. Aside from their three meals a day, we usually have 2-3 healthy snacks throughout the day, as well. We love healthy snacking and finding creative ways to make meal time and snack time fun. Sometimes it’s eating outside as a picnic. Other times it’s changing up what we eat or making food into shapes. Meal time is something that our little ones love.
I’m a believer in using what you have and getting creative when you need to. Our little ones aren’t picky eaters which is nice because we have options and ability for a variety in our house. They do have their favorites though that they like to see on our menu though. It’s a nice balance of new things and familiar things they love. The First Years has some great products I was recently introduced to that integrate nicely into our lifestyle of making food fun and healthy.
The Double Duty Plate
The new Double Duty Plate comes in a set of 4 and stack together in the cupboard and they also can be used to close one another. You can take one plate, fill it with food and then take a second plate and use it as the lid. This makes snacking on the go or lunch time super convenient. The set also comes with one fork. This would be excellent for a picnic at the park or snacking on the go with one or two little ones.

The sides are decent size – they can fit a half sandwich on eat side. The fork compartment in the middle is handy but the set itself only comes with one fork. I’m on the fence on whether I think it’s a huge component for the plate or I would rather have the extra space on the plate though, honestly. Ultimately, I like the concept and how you can use a plate to be the lid for the other on the. They will be a great for picnics and camping this Spring and Summer for our family.

The Stackable Sippy Cup
The Stackable Sippy Cup you see above in the photo is really nice, as well. The cups are really pretty decent when it comes to spilling and leaking. They are 9+ months and I would say that I feel like it’s ideal for the 9-12 month age group rather than older. We use more of a on-the-go kids water bottle with a silicone suck top for our regular drinking needs. That said, the ability to suck out of these cups are more limited for my little guy so he has to work a bit harder. I feel like this is an excellent aspect for the little ones in a younger age range.
It has a great stream for the littler ones still learning to drink and aren’t used to a heavier flow. The designs are fun on the cups, as well. They come in a two pack and have the blue/green dinosaur set we have and a pink/purple whale set as well. These cups are BPA free and are a one piece lid which I really like. They are easy to clean and there are no removable pieces to fiddle with.

The Inside Scoop Dip Plate
The new Inside Scoop Dip Plate has three suction cups on the bottom to attach to the table making the plate stay in place when you little one is trying to scoop or dip food. My little guy likes to try and pry it off the table occasionally. He seems to look at it like a game but when he uses it right, it’s excellent. The dip compartment is molded into the plastic and makes for a great place to put dipping sauces, hummus, guacamole, etc.
The blue top piece is a great way for little ones to scoop other items up and onto their spoon when feeding themselves. This piece is removable. You can also move it to the opposite so of the plate as needed so they can reach the sides they need to get to the best. This feature makes it so scooping things, such as applesauce, stay in the plate. We’ve all been there when it goes over the edge as they are working on the scooping skills. The Inside Scoop Dip Plate helps it stay on the spoon and plate.
Mamas, have you tried any of these products? If so, tell me your thoughts! If not, are these something you can see your little ones finding handy? Tell me in the comments below!
