I hope we can find the good.

I was laying in bed last night thinking all about everything going on right now. Everything is a bit chaotic for everyone now. There’s uncertainly, there are theories, there are lives that feel completely upside down right now. We’ve stepped into something that’s pretty much uncharted territory and I’m not sure many know what to think or feel.
But my hope is once we’re on the other side of this we’ll be able to find some good from it all too.

I hope we can look back at the time we stayed in our homes as a time that made us all slow down and lean in a bit. How it made us really lean into those in our homes as most have no where to go but to stay put and just…be present.

How we learned new hobbies or refound old ones. How we bonded with our favorite people a bit more because we had less distraction.

I hope that although get togethers aren’t happening we can look back at how we reached out to family and friends more diligently and how technologies made that easier than it could have been.

I hope we can look back at the empty shelves and say things like “but it led us to our local farmers that we still support today” and we found more local small businesses.

I hope we can look back with gratitude at the people who worked overtime in hospitals, at grocery stores, and in delivery trucks at all they did to keep it all going in the chaos.

I hope those that never expected to school from home can look back and go “although I didn’t expect it, it wasn’t so bad. I got to see watch the excitement of my kid learning something new and the joy in their eyes when they “got it” and the learning happened.” I hope we look back at how our communities and circles leaned in to help each other and get to know each other a little better, if even from a distance.

The way to look back at the good later is to search for it now, to rest easy in faith and know we can’t control things right now. I know it feels hard right now, but I hope we can find the good because it really is there.

I’d love for you to tell me: What is something GOOD you’ll look back at during this time?
