Creating a Love of Nature

May we raise a generation of children who yearn to live among nature because their hearts crave to be submerged within it, rooted in appreciation and curiosity. May they marvel in the biggest wonders and the smallest mundane aspects alike.
Fairly often, I see hasty comments offended ON BEHALF OF nature on the claim that children climbing trees, picking wildflowers, or stacking rocks are “disrupting the eco-system”. 🤔
How quickly we forget that HUMANS ARE A PART OF THE ECOSYSTEM. They are an integral part of the earth. Humans and nature were created to live within harmony with one another, to help one thrive. Believing the contrary is simply unfathomable to me; the idea that we were created to only visit nature. Nature will always be resilient living alongside natural behaviors humans.
(Notice I said “natural – I’m not talking about humans abusing nature, that’s an entirely different topic – so don’t go there.)
There will never be catastrophic effects of nature by children developing skills and exploring surrounding areas by stacking rocks or by building confidence and coordination by climbing the trees. Believing otherwise simply suggests you haven’t seen or studied the resilience of nature nor the health and developmental benefits of one submersing themselves within it.
So instead, let’s change the counterintuitive narrative of leaving nature alone and normalize been submerged within it. Maybe then our society will be able to understand more about nature itself, how we can actually help it, and maybe find a bit more out about ourselves too.
