Kangaroos and Coatis -oh my!

We spent our Saturday afternoon playing with animals. We headed up to a little place out east of us called “Cathy’s Critters.” They go a lot of animal events for hire but on occasion they open up their main location for visitors.

There were all kinds of animals but the Kangaroos and the Coatimundi stole the show. The Kangaroos hung out under the shaded areas because it was over 90*. I can’t say I blame them. The kids all loved the opportunity to interact with a kangaroo! I’ll be honest though – I might have been the most excited.

C was excited about every single dog he encountered. If you’ve met our little guy, this doesn’t surprise you. He loves all “pup-pups” and will stop whatever he’s doing to recognize their presence. He was also a big fan of the reptile house. There is no doubt the kid is pretty close to fearless; he wanted to interact with anything he was allowed to.

Walking out of the Kangaroo area we saw a baby Coatimundi. One of the gals who work there decided to bring her out for some sunshine and we happened to be in the right place at the right time. We all got to hold her and the boys even got to feed her the bottle. A was given the opportunity but she preferred just to observe which was just fine.

We took a few minutes to check out the pigs and turkeys (neither of which C was a fan of!). Then we spent the remainder of our time at the petting zoo area. This was A’s favorite part. She held chickens, rabbits, and guinea pigs. Of course she also jumped at the opportunity for a pony ride, as well.

B went on his first pony ride on Saturday too! He was so brave and he loved every second of it. He also made friends with an alpaca and some goats who wanted to be fed. He held hedgehogs and we checked out all kinds of reptiles there!

We had a nice day at the event. It was a little bit more than we were expecting for admission but it was a fun thing to do once. We finished out the day with a picnic at a local lake and swimming at the local pool. It shapes up to be a good weekend.
