When we arrived home from being in Colorado we were welcomed by a box of goodies that were delivered while we were away. We had been needing to great outdoor activities for the kids now that Spring is here and that is exactly what was in the box. I was excited to get the kids outdoors and show them all the fun they could have with some new toys. The toys were the brand new John Deere Spring toys from TOMY.

Springtime fun with John DeereThe weather that welcomed us back home the week after being out of town was unbeatable. The sun was out, the weather was perfect, our windows were open and we spent most of our time outdoors. When I showed the kids the new outdoor toys by John Deere they could hardly stand to wait to get them out of the packages. We love letting the kids be outside every chance they get and these new toys are such a fun addition to the our door fun.

John Deere just released a line of toys with TOMY that are interactive, imaginative and have educational features all while getting the kids outdoors. In our home we encourage anything that falls in those categories so they had our vote before they even go out of the package.  In our box we got a John Deere Farm Pond Fish Adventure, John Deere Lawn & Garden Set and a John Deere Deluxe Talking Toolbelt Set.  Every time we have gone outside to play the kids have asked for at least one of the activities!

John Deere Deluxe Talking Toolbelt

The John Deere Deluxe Talking Toolbelt is the favorite of the three in our house. B is obsessed with his new “too-bel” every time we go outside. He wants it on with all of his favorite tools. It is absolutely adorable and he looks so grown up wearing it.  He’s always “fixing” or measuring something while we are outside. He can’t get enough of it.  When B isn’t wearing it, miss A usually is. Even when she isn’t wearing it, she’s usually asking her brother to borrow one of his tools.

The toolbelt comes with a hammer,  wrench, screwdriver, pliers, ratchet and tape measure. The center of the belt features the John Deere logo and a button that creates 3 different tool sounds such as a ratchet and a hammer noise, and then has two John Deere phrases, “Nothing runs like a Deere” and “It’s time to work on our John Deere tractors!”  B loves walking around pushing the button to make it talk.

If we had to pick a favorite, it’s this one. They both love it and love feeling like they are fixing things with tools like they have seen Dad and Mom have done in the past. We love including our kids in our home projects using real tools when it’s possible, so this makes it even more fun for the kids to do their “own projects” with their own tools that don’t require mom and dad! The suggested age for this toy is 24 months + but due to having rounded edges and no small pieces I feel like you could easily purchase this for a 12-18 month old to play and grow with!

John Deere Lawn & Garden Set

Spring Fun with John DeereThe John Deere Lawn and Garden set is another one of the kids favorites. It comes with John Deere power weed trimmer that works by simply pulling on the trimmer’s retractable cord a few times to power up, then press the button for weed clipping action.  If your child is planning to do a long stint of weed eating it takes more than just one pull but it does spin around for a good 45 seconds each time you pull it a few times and hit the button.  I really enjoy the fact it doesn’t have any batteries!

Our kids have enjoyed the weed eater and last weekend when Daddy got out his weed eater they were even more excited about using theirs so they could be just like him.  B was so excited about having a weed eater like daddy he was following him around with his little weed eater and saying “dada! dada! Match!”  The suggested age for this toy is 18 months and older but I feel like it’s a little more appropriate for the 24 month + age range. Pulling and holding the weed eater is a bit of a challenge and the weed eater is a little bit large.

The lawn and garden set also comes with a small hand rake and a shovel. The kids love using both of these and it’s a great addition to the set!  Our kids have loved using them in our garden and in our sand box. We’ve been doing a lot of planting lately and both tools have been fun for them to use right along side us to help.

John Deere Farm Pond Fish Adventure

The  John Deere Farm Pond Fish Adventure is a fun game that is based around numbers 1-5. The suggested age is 4+ but I would say that it’s appropriate for children around 2+. For A, who is 4.5, the game is fun but very basic. She’s know these basics for a couple of years now. B seems to really enjoy the game when we play it together and he’s very intrigued by playing the game. He will be 2 next month.

When you push the release button it makes a fun reel noise and a sings a fun tune spelling John Deere. The game goes over numbers 1-5 and colors.  The child spins the arrow and they get the fish with the fishing pole by using the reel to raise and lower the fish hook that has a magnet at end to catch the correct fish!

So, if you need us we’ll most likely be outside until it’s too hot and humid to do so. We’ll be playing, imagining, digging, planting and having as much fun as possible! Do you love being outside with your little ones?  Do you think your little one would love any of these great toys? Tell me below!
