Simple Pleasures & Little Luxuries
I’m an extremely simple girl. I don’t go shopping often, I don’t have a lengthy “wishlist” of items for birthdays or holidays. A good description would be “low maintenance”. I am a fan of little things though. They are the little pick me ups, the little details that I find brighten my mood a little bit.
Fresh clean cotton sheets, dark chocolate with a touch of sea salt, the flicker of a candle flame, open windows, fresh cut flowers on my counter and table, wonderful smelling soaps next to my sinks…
Did I just say soap makes me happy??? Yes, I did! I know how silly that sounds and I’ll let you know something even sillier – I remember texting Ryan one day a few months ago literally saying “I know this is silly but all I want is fancy soap next to our sinks one day.” I’m being completely serious.
A couple of months ago I made the plunge and bought soaps that make me feel good. They smell so darn good that I look forward to washing my hands even more than before which seems like the silliest thing ever. I found the Mrs. Meyer’s hand soap and dish soaps which are toxin-free and come in matching scents. Plus they’re all so pretty, I actually want to leave them out on my counter. They make me feel fancy. I keep the Peony Scent (which is limited edition) in my bathrooms, and the Basil in the kitchen.
I recently also discovered their candles which smell really good too. I currently have the Lemon Verbana and the Basil. I plan to try out the Lavender next. I love a good quality candle and these have a 35 hour burn time. Which is pretty darn lengthy for a quality candle. I’m starting to take more time to light candles just to sit next to them and read a good book. I’ve added a few more recently that I need to keep plowing through because they are just so good.
I’ve also made it a habit to get a fresh bundle of freshly cut flowers to put on my counter and on my table every week when we got grocery shopping. There is just something so wonderful about a fresh bundle of flowers adding a splash of life and color to our home. It’s the little things right?
In the past several weeks, since I switched to the Mrs. Meyer’s cleaning supplies – I’m finding an extra little luxury that I’ve come to love is the freshness that comes with my clean house. I clean the house really good once a week and touch up throughout the whole week doing little tasks every day. I use the Basil All Purpose Cleaner in my kitchen and the Spring Peony in the rest of the house and oh my goodness it smells amazing. I just scrubbed the showers and tubs with the Mrs. Meyer’s tub and tile and even that smells good. I mentioned yesterday already that I love a clean house and now I love cleaning even more which is even weirder than my love for fancy soap on my counters.
Like I mentioned yesterday, from now until Sunday 4/24/16 Grove Collaborative has curated the Mrs. Meyer’s Everyday Luxury Set — and you can get it for FREE. And if you are already a Grove Collaborative fan like me, there’s something for you too – a free hand soap on your next order!
Tell me – what are some of YOUR little luxuries and simple pleasures??
