We are in our second week of this season for our family where Ryan is traveling a lot for work and it’s going really well. We certainly miss him and it’s still tough having him gone but I learned a lot when we went through this the first time. There’s so much that goes into making sure you are at your best for your sake and for those around you.
Our first season of lots of corporate travel was a little bit tougher on me than I expected. My days blurred together a bit and things fell to the wayside more than I hoped. It was really easy to fall into a state of being totally bummed out that my husband and best friend was across the country. Not to mention, if I’m feeling off the rest of my house feels off & it’s already an adjustment for them that daddy is gone. This round is even tougher now that they are a bit older, they miss him even more and this means I really have to be at my best to help keep all of us happy, healthy and thriving.
I now know what it takes for me to be at my best for the sake of everyone. I took the time to write down the key factors of when I feel like I am at my best and make sure I apply them every day. Here’s my everyday tips that I use to stay at my best and think you will benefit from too!

ONE II Stay Hydrated.
When I’m not hydrated I become more tired & lethargic, I have more headaches and am not at my best. I love the taste of water so drinking it isn’t a chore for me, it’s more that I sometimes forget to stop in my day to drink water. I like to add lemon to my water to give it an extra boost and it helps hydrate your body faster!
TWO II Eat Food That Nourishes Your Body.
Food is such an important part of being at your best. I like eating the extra splurges just like everyone else but when I load up on salty carbs or sweets I never feel as good as I do when I fuel my body with food that is great quality. Plus, when you eat a lot of fresh fruits and vegetables you help hydrate yourself through the foods which helps achieve two things at once!
THREE II Supplement Your Body with A Vitamin That Works For You!
We love eating great food around here that is healthy and fuels our bodies but sometimes it’s hard to get all of the nutrition you need on the busiest days. Being a mom of two little ones, the last thing I’m usually thinking about is myself. I love Centrum MultiGummies because they help me lead a healthy lifestyle and give me added goodness that keep me at my best like D, B12 and Vitamin E. Since I give my daughter vitamins every morning we just take them together. Even better? Ryan actually likes taking his Centrum Men’s MultiGummies because they taste good and don’t make him feel bad! I love that all of us are getting our supplements in a way that works for everyone to get the nutrients we need! Between these and the new Vitamints – more on that in a moment – there’s an easy way for everyone to take your vitamins without swallowing a pill!
FOUR II Discover Your Ideal Keys to Being Productive and Motivated.
When I get out in the morning I feel more accomplished and motivated during the day and that is something that I know. Whether it’s that I got up and went for a morning walk or I got up and got errands ran, the sooner I start my day without lounging around the better I feel. When I wear tennis shoes on my feet during the day I’m more productive. I also write everything down that needs to get done and cross them off as I complete them. Find what motivates you and what makes you most efficient & do them.
FIVE II Find Ways to Give Back.
We participate in local fundraisers, donate 10% of our income each month to a variety of charities that are near and dear to us. Giving back just feel really good. I love finding subtle ways to do my part and give back too. For example, when I buy my vitamins at Walgreens they make a donation to Vitamin Angels. “Get Vitamins Here. Change Lives Everywhere. Walgreens will make a donation to Vitamin Angels with every Vitamin purchase.” Just by purchasing vitamins we use every day at Walgreens, I help contribute to something much bigger than me!
SIX II Have A Grateful Heart.
When you focus on the good things you become a more positive and happy person. Sure, we all end up going through muck in our life but when we take the time to find the good things going on they become the focal point. Whether you write them down every day or you put them into an app – find a way to have a positive & grateful heart. Write down things that you are excited about each morning about your day, how you’ll make your day great, some affirmations and then write about the great stuff that happened that night and what you can do to make tomorrow even better.
SEVEN II Keep Your Environment Picked Up
I once read that your environment/surroundings are a reflection of how your mind is currently. I don’t know if it’s true for everyone but I do know it’s true for me. When my house is a cluttered mess, my mind is scattered and I feel like I’m constantly running around feeling behind. Sound familiar? Pick things up and clean as you go through your day so it doesn’t end up a massive mountain at the end of your day.
EIGHT II Get Rest!
Get Rest! For me this is a big one. I’ve got a little one that I’m nursing on demand and isn’t sleeping through the night, especially while teething. While my body is used to less sleep than it was four years ago, if I get even less rest than normal – I feel it. I feel less patient and more overwhelmed during the daytime. Sometimes this means on days when I’m extra tired I nap while the kids do, or I don’t stay up late to get to-dos done I had planned to. Rest is big. Go to bed a little earlier or if you can, sneak a nap in.
NINE II Be Prepared for the Unexpected
It doesn’t matter what we are doing if I’m not slightly over-prepared I always wish I was. This means grabbing an extra diaper or an extra change of clothes sometimes. On days that we are out the door and I forget to take my Centrum MultiGummies, my Raspberry Centrum Vitamints help me stay on top of my game. They taste like a mint without any weird aftertaste and they are super convenient for me to keep stashed in my purse. The brand new raspberry flavor and think absolutely delicious. I love that I can pick them up at Walgreens just like the just like the MultiGummies and do not require you to take them with food or water.
TEN II Start Doing Something For Yourself. I learned when I don’t do anything for myself and I give everything I have to everyone else around me, I end up having less to give those I love. Sometimes this means I take time to read or sit outside and enjoy the weather while my little ones nap. Other times it means focusing on my blog because I enjoy it or getting creative. Find something you enjoy and do it – even if it means pushing off a “to-do” list item you hoped to cram into nap time.
