Three Books We’re Loving Right Now
It’s no secret we love books around here. Usually when the kids are suspiciously quiet,I find them looking at books and “reading”. I love how much they adore books. We read to them daily and some days we will literally sit for five or more books. Seeing them adore stories makes me so happy. It’s something I wish I could say I do love of for myself but it just isn’t true.
I have so many books that our home has been enjoying that I want to share with you but today’s post I’ve been trying to get up since November, so let’s start there. I have two books for your little ones and a newer one for the adults that is appropriate for kids too. Let’s dive in!
Abigail The Belle of Bravery by Erin Weidermann
I got a sneak peek of this book for the book launch before it was out in November and I adore it. If you have been around here long, you’ve seen me talk about the Bible Belle’s stories before. I love everything about their mission and have stories of women in the Bible my children can look up to.
In Abigail, Rooney learns all about…BRAVERY! She’s having trouble feeling like she can speak up with her brother is treating the neighbor boys poorly. Thanks to her angel, Mari, she goes on her third adventure to discover what Abigail did. She learns that Abigail had to be brave to speak up to the King and save her people.
My daughter loved this book and was so excited that there was a new Rooney book. I want her to know it’s okay to speak up and be brave, especially when someone isn’t being treated fairly – herself included. Brave doesn’t always come easily but with books like this, it makes it a whole lot easier to encourage it!

Jesus Always by Sarah Young.
Jesus Always is the second book and is like a continuation from Jesus Calling. Each day there is a passage that is encouraging and usually settles right into my day just like I need it to. After the passages there is three scriptures that encourage you to dive deeper into the word. I feel like Jesus Always has a great way of speaking truths that are so valuable in day to day live. The scriptures are a great way to find a place to dive even deeper into the Word of God.
Jesus Always’ passages are always a quick way to get some time in with God or prompt it into the day – every day of the year. I like to read it in the beginning of the day but do find it useful at anytime of the day. Sometimes I will read a passage out of Jesus Always and later one in Jesus Calling. The two books pair well together without redundancy, which I appreciate. I don’t believe that Jesus Always is a replacement for the Word of God but rather a good starting place or addition to the Bible, which I believe is the intent.

The Berenstain Bears Bedtime Devotionals
The moment I saw this book I wanted to get my hands on it. My kids love the Berenstain Bears book and I always feel like they have a good lesson in them. It wasn’t until recent years that I learned they have Christian themed books which makes me love them even more. This one was not a disappointment either.
The 90 devotionals within the book are written like telling a story within in bear country which makes the kids relate to the many stories that they are so familiar with. Most devotionals speak right to the child and their life which I think I expected with this one but feel like this is a fun approach. It helps my kids see it as a relatable story that we can relate back to our own lives through further conversation in our home.
The first page of the book has a Bedtime Prayer which we always lead off with. It’s a well-done prayer that our family has grown to love. Each devotional is short enough to keep their attention, even when they are very tired, and still holds an important lesson. I really am loving that. The prayers at the end of each devotional are extremely short which I think is also a big difference from a lot of others within the devotional realm of books. They are short enough they are easy to take a lesson from and remember!
