Eco-Friendly Heart Bird Feeders
Who needs a fun Valentine’s Day Activity today?! I’ve got the perfect eco-friendly bird feeders for some fun and you’ll likely have everything thing you need on hand!
We are a crafty crew that loves any excuse to create an up cycled project. Major bonus if it’s going to bring more wildlife around our house. Since we hung them up, we have seen the birds that live in our bushes and trees come visit the hearts and grab birdseed right off.
You’ll need:
• Twine or String (birds can later use this to make their nests for the spring if you forget to go back out and grab it.)
• Cardboard (this is biodegradable!)
• All Natural Peanut Butter. Skip the added sugars and oils. They aren’t good for you and they for sure aren’t good for the birds.
• Birdseed! A birdseed mix with large and small seeds, like sunflower seeds and millet, make for a diverse look and better coverage.
Instructions:
• Cut hearts either free hand or by tracing stencils or cookie cutters out of an old cardboard box.
• Hole punch the cardboard in one corner.
• Spread a thick layer of peanut butter on the cardboard.
• Sprinkle on seeds or create a fun design out of the seeds on your heart. Give it a gentle press to hold the seeds in the peanut butter.
• tip your heart to remove excess seeds.
• add your string through the hole punched hole. You can tie now to slide over the branches or leave it untied to tie it onto the branch when you hang it!
