Within the Trees

My cautious and calculated boy, the one who once upon wouldn’t allow for more than a gentle push on the swing because the unpredictability felt too much.
When he was really little he would sit as do puzzles, legos, or games for hours. He loved the challenge of figuring out the next move and how to accomplish it. Unpredictability and risk isn’t something he does well with most days. He likes a plan, he likes to know what’s next, and for a long time that meant he didn’t try risky things.
Once he began climbing trees, everything fell together for him. It was a puzzle coupled with calculated risk while his feet where connected to the earth. Strategy comes with climbing the trees.
One hand, reach, then the next.
Pull up the next foot.
Grab there.
Nestle your foot on that knot there.
Pull. Repeat.
There, in the trees he’s climbed, his bravery grew too. He looks for the next challenging tree and runs to climb it. His love of nature, desire to be brave and courageous, and his love of calculated a strategy came together in one place.
He found his bravery and confidence within the trees. ♥️
