Hello, Old Friend.

I’m currently sitting here at my dining room table with my coffee to my right and all three of my sweet babes still asleep. The birds are outside of my door chirping after a night of rain. I haven’t ever lived somewhere the birds are so audible all day every day and I’m certainly not complaining.  There is just something incredibly peaceful about their songs and I’m so grateful we live in a place I get to hear them every day.

The familiar “tap, tap, tap” of the keys as I write in this space is familiar and soul soothing. It’s been a while since I last placed a proper post here. I’m not even sure where to begin because it’s been so long. I’m not even sure people still read blogs much anymore because frankly Instagram just seems easier to connect. Truth be told, that’s where I’ve been this whole time and I’m not necessarily sorry about that. Yet, sometimes I just need a broader place to land. A place to put my thoughts, write out things I find important, or a place to log my memories like I have for so long.

Let’s pretend we’re two old friends sitting down for a cup of coffee catching up with the times, shall we? I’ll just start where I am and give a recap of our life the last 7 months because that’s really all the time I’m going to have before someone rises for the day.

Life right now is a bit chaotic and stressful but really beautiful. Life with three kids is probably exactly what I expected but equally crazy – especially running a business alongside it all. Our littlest will be 7 months tomorrow and frankly I’m not sure where that time has gone. He’s on the move and just started crawling this weekend. He also started the “mama”.  When he needs something or feels like I’ve stepped away for too long I hear the “mamamamamamama” as his call for me.

Our sweet B has really come to show of his personality these days, he’s sweet and generally level headed. He’s the voice of reason when it comes to his sister, and always thanks me for the little things. Like last night, he said “thanks mama for making me this cookie”. He’s just starting to stepped into a relationship with C more but we’re still working on gentleness a bit still because he gets so excited. He loves all things cars and planes. Finding something for him to help with and he’s all in.  It’s been such a joy watching him turn into his own little person. I still can’t believe he’ll be three next month.

Our girl is 5.5 years now and wildly smart. She’s writing everything she possibly can, adores to read out-loud on her own and she’s doing a tremendous job. She is all about coloring and drawing these days too. We’re in the phase of seeing where her limits are and pushing them just a bit further. She usually says things that makes Ryan and I look at each other like “what did she just say?” – just last week she said “I need to uncouple these legos”. Yes, it was in the right context. Sweet mercy. I start homeschooling her in the Fall which makes me excited but equally terrified I’m going to drop the ball somehow.

I’m incredibly lucky to be the mom of three sweet babes. Truly. Some days in the midst of the crazy and seemingly mundane of life, I feel like it’s hard to catch up. Chasing the kids, tending to the home, and running a business all combined sometimes feel like I can’t catch my breath. Yet each day the sun rises and all is right with the world. In the most chaotic of moments I just remind myself that this work – all of it – on every level is Holy work. And for that? I’m undoubtedly grateful.

Life here in PA is so different than CO. We miss CO a lot but there are a few things we’re growing to enjoy about Pennsylvania. I’ve said it before but there is worse places we could live. I’m glad that the Spring is now here because it finally means more sun. The winter months here very pretty cloudy. We still get a fair amount of rain but it sure makes for a vibrant green landscape and lush growing conditions for plants, our grass, and the garden. I could live without the humidity but I suppose that’s the price we pay for a lush green environment.

Otherwise life is going well around here. I don’t know how long we will live here in PA but we’re making the best of it while we do. I’m grateful for friendships we have made and watching the kids thrive in those has been so wonderful to see. We have our bucket list of places to visit this summer here on the east coast and several camping trips planned.

If I’ve learned anything from living here in PA, it’s that it’s all about how we choose to look at things that makes the difference. I can wallow in missing the 300 sunny days in CO or I can enjoy the lush green environment in PA. We can miss the mountainous hikes and views of CO or we can capitalize on the fact we’re able to drive a few hours to the beach or various other states. I’m really just grateful that I get to live life, wherever that may be, with my four favorite people because that’s really all it is about.

Speaking of my favorite people, I hear little feet walking above me – so it’s time for me to close and say good morning to my little guy.

I’ll be back here soon because there’s a lot I want to share. ❤️
