Surprises, Sunshine, & Del Sol

If surprises were a love language they would be hers. 

It doesn’t matter if it’s things or experiences, when you surprise A her face lights up like it’s Christmas morning. “A surprise for me? I’m just so excited!”

Sometimes that means pulling an old afghan to have a surprise picnic in the yard while her little brother sleeps, a fun craft or a game to play. Or maybe a trip to the park or a visit to a loved one.

Sometimes it’s that I picked up a special treat at the store she didn’t know about until days later, a surprise cookie after her nap or a fun item she’s been asking for throughout multiple weeks.  

Now that we have two little ones I do my best to cue into their little spirits and make sure I fill up their love tanks with things that make them tick, my their hearts happy. I spend one on one time with each of them every day and do something special with each of them. I want each of them to know how much they are loved- how much they each individually mean to us. They, both and individually, mean everything to us.  It’s hard to grasp how that works until you are a parent but good golly it’s the truth. 

A couple of weeks ago I surprised A with the news that I was collaborating with Del Sol and that she would get to pick out a new shirt, a pair of flip flops and a few things of nail polish. We browsed the Disney designs like Olaf and Minnie mouse, and we continued searching and then she found it – a sea turtle tea shirt and she was sold. Once she picked her shirt she wanted to see if we could “be matching” and so I found one too. We picked out some flip flops and browsed all of the nail polish options. She even found an awesome flower necklace she decided she just had to have. 

Soon enough our order came in the mail and I can’t tell you how excited she was the we had matching sea turtle shirts which is the absolute sweetest thing. I love that she loves matching with me! It was like the excitement of our shirts was new all over again from the day that we ordered but she was in for a new surprise. She put on all of her stuff on and I took her out into the sun and she discovered everything changes colors in the sun! Our sea turtle shirts were more than blue and teal designs, they were splashed with gorgeous colors when the sunlight hit them and so did our flip flops.Her pretty shiny white shell necklace turned a pretty pink, too. I saved our nail polish for a different day but when we tried out our new nail polish and they dried we headed out into the sun and soon she realized her finger nails were a new color! 

Every time A wears her awesome Del Sol items she’s got to tell everyone she knows that they change colors and how excited she is about that.  She also insists that we wear our matching shirts together which just slays me every time and even if I’m dressed and she picks out her shirt, I inevitably end up in mine too. Every time we step out into the sun in our Del Sol pieces, it’s a new excitement all over again. Ryan and I discovered Del Sol in 2008 while we were on vacation in San Diego and learned how awesome their products, so we were thrilled at the opportunity to collaborate with the brand. We love the fun designs and they have so much to choose from for kids 2T and up, for males and for females. Since we discovered them years ago they have even more stuff than before like soccer balls and more!  Now that I’m a mom I love their brand even more because of the excitement that shines from my kiddo with their fun products we own!
