Sweet Summertime

The fact that summer is half over already feels a little crazy to me. I'm not sure where the time goes these days but I will say it's felt like Summertime! The days are humid in Pennsylvania, much like my own childhood, but the shady evenings are nice when the humidity is low.

Our summer has been filled with sunshine, gardening, playing outside, bug catching, lightening bug watching, and a little bit of everything else in between. We have enjoyed fishing, baseball games, and dinners outside. We've explored new places to hike, A got a new bike, we've indulged in local produce!

This last weekend worked out to be the definition of Summertime and it was the best time. We spent most of our time outdoors and it was glorious. Saturday we stopped by a local place for some fresh corn and product then spent some time at the local park for a picnic and playtime. We spent post-nap time walking at a local fair and then headed to a free outdoor movie with the kids. The movie was UP! which we had never seen before and it was so cute. The kids loved watching the movie outside.

Sunday we spent our time at home having so much fun! A couple weeks ago we discovered Home Depot had bug boxes as the craft but we found out too late. I had been looking for wooden bug boxes with mesh that could be painted for months and came up with nothing so we had settled on some plastic ones. We went the next day to see if they had any extras left over and they did!!! So this weekend we painted them and put them together. The kids had fun painting and building them.

We spent most of the early afternoon outside with water balloons! A had been asking for water balloons for weeks and we got some Bunch O'Balloons! If you haven't gotten these balloons, you need them in your life. Filling one by one and tying balloons is a thing of the past! With these you attach the hose and you fill them all up at once, then yank for them to "tie". Total game changer!!!

We wrapped up our water balloon fight with some splashing in the water table! We've had it filled with sand since last year but the kids are loving the table with just water. It's a sand and water table but we quickly learned last year that it staying separated is a pipe dream so we've made it one or the other at all times. The kids don't mind at all and the water is a nice refreshing change!

Our day finished up with fresh local corn with dinner outside and the Jungle Book! We recently purchased it for the kiddos and they adored it. It was the perfect end to our weekend of fun.

Now onto our next summer adventure….camping. 😉
