What Our Next Chapter Looks Like

It was the winter of 2006 I had the horse trailer packed with my belongings, our cat in the car and I was headed to Colorado to finally start a life with Ryan. It was ten months of long distance for us and we were thrilled to be in the same state and the same apartment. We were in for a new life together and a new adventure.

Here we are just shy of ten years in Colorado together later with an extra cat, two dogs, two babies, a marriage, over a decade of love for one another and we are on to our next adventure together. You might remember how I shared that this past year has been filled with Ryan a traveling a lot for work and us missing him a lot while he travels but that it was a temporary thing. I also shared a few months ago Ryan would be getting a new district for SOA and that we were waiting to find out where we would be going next.

I’m here to say that we now have a new adventure upon us. Ryan got a new district and we know where we are going…..

PENNSYLVANIA!!!

We didn’t even think of Pennsylvania as an option because it’s in a different region than our current one but we have been diligently and intentionally praying some very specific prayers surrounding where we would land.  We knew we would be leaving our beloved state of Colorado that we love so much and have just trusted that God would answer our prayers by putting us somewhere that consist of all of the things that we have been praying for: a safe place to raise our children, a district that allowed for him to be home more than away, somewhere with activities for our children, a financially fruitful opportunity, etc.

God answered every single one of those prayers and then some. We expected Ryan to have to travel one to two weeks per month in his new district and just hoped like crazy that he would be closer to the one week travel time. Yet God knows our hearts and the thing we yearned for – He provided us with a district where Ryan will have zero travel away from us. His district allows him to be home every.single.night. with us.

Goodness, He is so darn faithful in the desires of our hearts. We never thought this would be possible but it is and this just blesses me to tears. We’ve all wanted this so badly but didn’t think it was possible but yet again God surprised us and delivered the desires of our hearts.

This new opportunity is literally everything that has been on our hearts – a quality district with a director that values his team and is grateful for Ryan’s experience and talents, financial needs were met, the location is safe, has activities for our family, PA is beautiful, the housing market is a buyers market, homes are selling in less than 3 days in our current neighborhood. I could literally go on and on about how much we didn’t expect the location but we have been so incredibly blessed.

I’m so proud of Ryan. He has worked so hard to get here and he is so perfect for this district. All of his experience before SOA and during the past two years there has brought us to this point. His new Director already values him so much and is thrilled to have him in his Zone.

Few things make me happier than seeing someone value my husband. He’s worked for some good people in our current region but it’s so different with his new ZD. He’s valued and appreciated so much already and that’s so priceless.

We will be making a trip out to look at homes to sale (area wise it’ll be near Reading but we haven’t settled on an exact town) in the coming weeks, packing up our house and getting all ready. We will be spending A’s birthday next month here with one last big family party and spending Thanksgiving in Colorado. The next week we are headed out to PA.

We are sad to be leaving the state of Colorado, the mountains, everything we are familiar with and our family but we are grabbing on with both hands to this opportunity and just trusting. We are getting everything lined out to prepare for our big move. It’s a little daunting going somewhere we know nothing about but we are grateful for the opportunity and looking forward to this new chapter of our life.

North Eastern Pennsylvania – here we come!
