It didn’t happen overnight…

I remember mopping the floor with our Swiffer pads and making A stay off the floor until  it was totally dry. I remember telling her “yuckies will get on your feet! I don’t want this in your body.” I’d hustled to get the floor mopped and her onto a task until the floor was dry. Even with other “green” products, something felt off. I got the concept of how the body worked thanks to my medical based background but it still didn’t CLICK that there was a better way than avoidance. I let a bottle of THHC sit under our sick for 6 months because I’d had crap experiences with “green”(washed) products before. Why would it be different? Ha. I was so wrong. 

I know better now. I’m grateful for a truly natural (not greenwashed but genuinely natural and safe) product that not only is safe for their bodies but supports them. Grateful for a product that my kids can even clean with and I don’t have to think twice. A product that actually comes out with better results that bleach but can be kept under the cabinet without a need for a lock. Something that SUPPORTS the body instead of hinders it. How far we have come – and on the other side I can tell you, peace of mind is an incredible thing. ✌🏼

I don’t have it all figured out but I’m a lot further ahead than I was 5 years ago. It wasn’t all at once –  it was gradual and it’s still a process. First it was ditching candles and air fresheners.. Then it was ditching our cleaners, detergents, dryer sheets and body products.

Food wasn’t a big concern for us because we ate rather healthy but there were changes there too – picking frozen over canned vegetables, choosing organic and non-GMO, removing artificial dyes (more on this another day).

It’s a process but it’s one that is worth it. What goes in, on, and is around our bodies make a big difference. It’s called bioaccumulation. If you’re not taking control of what you DO have control of, it furthers your issues of things you encounter. Little by little, the impact becomes great. When we know better, we have the power to do better.
