Goodbye 205 Lambert

We said goodbye to our first home, our Colorado home, the day we left for Pennsylvania but as of just under two weeks ago, it belongs to someone knew. There was no time for sentimental goodbyes as we dashed out the door to catch our flight but the truth is that it’s probably best. I don’t like getting too sentimental about places and things but that one tugs a little at my heartstrings.

There was a lot of blood, sweat, and tears that the house held for us. Quite literally. It was the house we bought after two years of home hunting. The home that we put a lot of elbow grease and sweat equity into by laying new floorings, fixing plumbing, painting zainy walls and countless other projects. We laid hours of sod in the front yard.

It was the home that A potty trained in and had her first real room. We adopted Millie there and A finally had her own puppy.  The house is the one we welcome B home to and he took his first steps.

The town was one that kept to itself and the street was filled with diesels that usually needed to cool their jets. The train just down the street woke us regularly and the dog next door still barked at us up until the day we left. Yet, there were little touches of sweetness that became a part of our lives like the town Christmas celebration and the NSPA races Ryan watched each year.

If the walls could talk they would tell tales of the days of laughter, of battles and tears. We filled a lot of life in that house. While there are things I won’t miss there, there is plenty that I do and will miss.

It’s the little things like the  snowy mornings tucked in the chair by the window looking at the beauty of the big birch tree.  How the tree in the spring is filled with birds feeding from the feeds and the summer had mothers teaching their babies to come there too.

When we listed our home, our only hope was for a family that would love the house and fill it’s walls with life and with love. The house was filled with space and after closing our realtor told us a family with six (6!!!) kids moved into our home. We knew it was a family with kids but little did we know how well our home would be used. It was so good to hear.

As bittersweet of saying goodbye to a home you love is, it was so good to us. It was a lovely home for the time that we lived there and we left it better than we found it – a family rule of ours. We hope the new owners love it as much as we did!
