Butterfly Pavilion 2016

This post is massively image heavy but I’m not even sorry about it. Last week we went to the Butterfly Pavilion in Westminster, CO with my mom and got so many photos. This wasn’t not our first trip, by any means but we did get lots of good photos! I’ve been dying to get them up on the blog and share our trip.

I only took my phone with us which was a bummer considering but I’m still pretty happy with all of the photos we got! Not to mention, we had a really great time. I’ve uploaded them straight from my phone to share with you.

The first thing we did was A held Rosie the tarantula. Seeing Rosie is the highlight of every trip to the Butterfly Pavilion. She wasn’t the least bit scared and did an awesome job. She did not want to much those two at all. I was so proud of her for holding Rosie! It’s the one time I really wished I had my better camera!

Our library recently had a visit from the Butterfly Pavilion that we went too and I had been looking forward to taking A again to see even more.  She is loves exploring new insects and animals so I knew she would love going again this year now that she’s a bit older than the last time we went in 2014.  I was so glad that she did.

We explored and saw so many insects, bugs and aquatic fish. A also really enjoyed watching the honey bees coming in and out of the exhibit.  There were so many things that A clued into this time that she didn’t before.  Some of the exhibited critters were a bit tough for B to cue into at his young age but he did love the fish and watching things that moved.

In the aquatic exhibit they had some tropical fish to watch which was nice to watch.  They also have two hands on exhibits – a starfish station and a hard shell crab station.  In both stations you can touch the creatures but A opted out. 

After going through the small aquatic area and then arachnid & insects area we headed out to the butterfly rain-forest space. It’s super humid in there and when we went t was a 97* day but it was an awesome experience! At one point there was even a butterfly that landed on A! B enjoyed watching all of the butterflies fly around.

Everyone enjoyed the butterflies and we even got to watch the butterfly release that they do twice a day of the brand new butterflies that came out of their cocoons that day! That was neat and A was adorable, she stood right up front at the rope but would look back and make sure we were still there. Goodness she’s just the sweetest. 

We had the best time. I’m so glad we went and that all of enjoyed our time at the Butterfly Pavilion!
