Creating Memories We Can Cling To For The Holidays with Crayola + A Giveaway

Handmade gifts are some of my favorite gifts to give and receive, especially now that we are parents. Last year my mom surprised us with a bird house that A painted for us and it was the best gift we got all season last year.  We also know how much people love receiving gifts that our little ones have created every year. Knowing that handmade gifts are always a win, in combination with A’s love for getting hands on and creating + our love for Crayola, I’m ecstatic to share with you what we are doing to go with all of our holiday gifts. (Family members who may be reading this – act surprised this Christmas, mmmkay?)

Every holiday we end up with some sort of window clings on our windows. There’s just something about clings that are overly exciting to children, I remember being the same way as a child, so when I was presented with the opportunity to share their  with you all today I could. not. wait. We had a blast trying this out and making special gifts just for our family members. It says it’s for ages 8+ but mamas, this is great for toddlers too with your supervision and assistance.

We had such a fun time. We did attempt to make our own clings with the moldable clay but had a rough time so we stuck to the standard molds and they worked fantastic for our family! We mixed the two solutions to the lines they suggested, tossed it in the shaker – which A found extremely fun – and poured them into the molds. (Mamas with children that have sensory challenges or sleeping babies – you can shake the mixture by hand if that’s a better fit!)  Each cling takes about 15-20 minutes to full set which can be quite a while in toddler time. That said, we made five at a time – one in each mold type – and waited. Usually we only had a little bit of extra wait time by the time we finished up the last one. So, we washed hands, had snacks or found other activities to do during that time. We learned that when we filled up the creator molds half way our molds were more flexible and stuck better!

After our clings were made we stuck the ones A chose to keep to the windows and picked out which once we wanted to give away. Once the decision was made, I took a page protector and cut off the edges. Once the edges were cut we stuck the clings to the clear plastic so both sides were covered. Then, we took out our Color Wonder paper and paints and painted some beautiful artwork all over them. Once completed and dried, we attached the clings to the new gift tags with clear tape, so that we could attach them to presents!
