Memorial Day Weekend 2017
Goodness I LOVE 3-Day weekends! Three full days of family time?! Yes, please!!
We’ve really been leaning in and making this place a home. We’re spending time getting out and exploring what we have around here. On Saturday we started out slow and then decided to browse what local events were going on to fill our day! We spent the majority of the day at Quiet Valley Historic Living Farms. We had a great time experiencing the farm, animals and more! I’ll actually dedicate a whole post to that trip next week so stay tuned.

Saturday night we spent our evening at the kids’ first Tractor Pull! It was about 15 minutes away from us in a little town called Walnutport. It was hosted by Lorah’s Truck and Tractor Pulls, which is also Lorah’s Farms. We missed the trucks the night before which looked like a great time but the kids enjoyed the tractors.
B really got into the tractors!! He loves all things trucks, tractors, cars or airplanes right now. We would ask if he thought it would be a slow pull or a fast and he would pick. Then we would ask if he thought it would be long or short. We also talked about all the colors of the tractors! A took a little bit more time to get into the festivities but once the sun went down her attention was on the pull track.

The last couple years Ryan would go to the NSPA pulls in Keenesburg because it was literally 5 minutes from our house but the kids were so young (mainly B!) but this year it was great to go as a family. This event is a much smaller scale than NSPA but it’s fun nonetheless. Next pull event I think we will try and get to the Truck pull night!
Sunday we spent the day catching up on things around the house, like planting more of our garden sproutlings that were ready. It was nice to have the extra day to decompress from our big day on Saturday!

Memorial Day we went to the local Lehigh Valley IronPigs Minor League game. Our sweet neighbors invited us to go with their group of veteran friends. We were worried the weather would rain it out but we got a break in the rain and got to go. B slept part of it because it happened to be right at nap time which was a bummer (lesson learned: evening games only from now on). The kids did good throughout the game. It was their first Minor League game, they’ve only been to Colorado Rockies games in past years. A got to meet one of the IronPig mascots, FeFe, and was so excited! She hoped to get Ferrous but we didn’t see him up close. Next time!
For dinner our neighbors asked us out to their favorite restaurant with them and a couple of their friends. We went to dinner and then covered dinner to thank them for their service! Our neighbor and his friend are both Veterans. Ryan and I are always so grateful for our service men and women. Fun fact about me: I can’t make it through the National Anthem or Star Spangled banner without crying. They couldn’t believe we wanted to cover dinner but we were happy to do it, especially on Memorial Day! We wrapped up our long weekend with a quiet playtime at home and prepped for the week ahead.
We had a great weekend and are so grateful 3-Day weekends! I’ll admit, I’ve been confused on what day it is all week though! Tuesday felt like Monday but then Wednesday felt a little bit like Friday. Ha!
How was your three day weekend?

Looks like a fun weekend! 🙂
