The Denver Trolley

During our recent trip to the Denver Children’s Museum we discovered the Denver Trolley! Since Daniel Tiger has a Trolley we knew that A would be thrilled if we surprised her with a ride. We checked out how much tickets were and found out adults were $5.00 each and kids under 4 were free. Score! Kids tickets for 14 and under are only $2 which is incredibly cheap, anyways.
After learning of how affordable it was we knew we had to go. We had our lunch and hopped on the 12:40pm Trolley ride. A was so excited she skipped from the ticket table to the Trolley. Once we got up there she anxiously handed the Trolley captain my blue ticket to get hole punched and it was time to hop aboard.
The Trolley picked us up right outside of the Children’s Museum and took us down to 15th street. On the way there they told us facts about the places all along the river. We also learned that this Trolley is from Australia which was a neat fact! We also learned a variety of things are we traveled alongside the Platte River like Confluence Park, on the South Platte River, where is Denver was founded!
Once we hit 15th street they had us stand and they flipped the seat backs to head the other direction. That design feature was genius! Once going north we learned more facts as we made it back down the river, past the aquarium and to the REI stop. Once there the kids got to get off and ring the bell before we headed back to our stop!
A really enjoyed getting to ride the Trolley and ring its bell! The facts were over her head but she seemed to like the views. B did awesome sitting on our laps watching as the Trolley passed things. For a 25 minute ride it was a lot of fun! The Trolley is only open from Memorial Day to Labor Day and the day we rode it was the last day for the season – so we discovered just in the nick of time.
