Wow & Wonder with Learning Resources

I really love how much kids love to learn and explore. I see the wonder in the eyes of both of my children every single day. They are constantly looking at the world with their eyes and seeing things in a fascinating way. As an adult I’m sometimes guilty of missing these small wonders.  

Currently A is always wanting to learn how things work. She’s an incredible balance of imaginative and innovative! Recently we the opportunity to get our hands on a Learning Resources Primary Science Wow and Wonder Science Set . I was really excited to see how things would go with it being an activity perfect for her age group of 3+. 

Last week I got it all out and looked through the contents while A napped and had everything prepped and ready.  One of the first things I did was set all of the tools out on the table. I knew this would allow her to so she could take the time to really check things out on her own terms. 

The Learning Resources Primary Science Wow and Wonder Science Set comes with a lot of really great tools for kids to explore. With that, I wanted her to take the time to really see how things worked unprompted. I felt like it was important for her to do that and I was excited to see what she would gravitate to towards.
Her first stop was the Color Mixing Glasses with six lenses. She knows all of her primary colors and how to mix them to get the secondary colors because of all of our painting. Seeing them in a different way was a lot of fun for her and great review ! 

While we were napping I had kind of sorted things out and had a lucrative plan in my mind of the process we would go through with the items – starting off with her favorite things, Bubbles. Once she had done a lot of exploring I got us started on a more productive route so she could explore on a deeper level and using more tools. She had so much fun creating the bubbles with dish soap and water using the bubble wand and dish alongside the test tubes and the fun twisty dropper. We made large bubbles and she thought it was so much fun. One of the things that I loved was we were able to let B interact with the tools and the bubbles we were making. Bubbles are fascinating to him.  

I really love about this set is you can do as many activities as you have time for and you can easily do is set up a variety of activities from the cards as stepping stones to the next activities. One example is that we did the Bigger bubbles activity card and then also did the activity from the Catch a Bubble card as the next activity! We could have taken it a step even further and done the Frozen Bubble activity! 
The next activities we did dealt the with Horseshoe Magnet!  I laid out a variety of items out on the table made from different materials and had her try and pick each of them up with the magnet.  A then put the items that did work with the magnet in one pile and then put the magnetic items in another pile. She had an awesome time trying to figure out which ones would work and which ones wouldn’t. 

Our next activity wasn’t on the cards but ended up being a fun activity that fell into place and was a nice stepping stone into the next activity. We took a large bowl of water and put the magnet into the water and tried to pick them up with the magnet. The goal was to see if the magnet would work in the water and it did!

Next up was the Magic Water activity from the cards. We took a glass mason jar and put the magnetic flower shaped paperclips inside.  She took the magnet from the outside to see if the magnet would attract them through the glass and the water to the side.  From there she slowly drug the magnet up the side to see if we could get them to come out the water! It was so fun to watch her try a couple of times and then finally succeed! You can see from the photo above she thought it was super exciting! 

Our next change of pace used the test tubes and the twisty dropper and candy! The Candy Paint activity was a lot of fun and a great spin on painting that we usually do.  She enjoyed the entire process of sorting the candy and eating it. It was fun for her to take the water from the mason jar with the dropper and into the test tubes. She then watching the color pull away from the candy and into the water so she could paint with it! She had a lot of fun being a candy artist.

This Learning Resources Primary Science Wow and Wonder Science Set is so much fun and it’s perfect for the ages 3+. Depending on our little one it might even be a great fit for a little bit younger. I’m so excited to do even more activities with A over the next several years and then include B more when he’s a bit older!  

The tools are super durable which is perfect for little hands and any accidents that might happen with dropping. The color changing glass frames are super durable too – just be careful with the lenses, they are durable but like with any clear plastic they can scratch a bit.  I really can’t say enough about this set.

Mamas of little ones – this Learning Resources Primary Science Wow and Wonder Science Set  is an excellent way to safely let your child learn and explore right alongside you. All of the experiments are versatile, fun and safe. Even the cards are durable with water (I’m speaking from experience here). Encourage your kids to get hands on for hours of fun and I promise you won’t regret it.
