Hello Texas!

Well, we did it!

We made it to our new home in Texas and we’re settling in. We got our home in PA cleared out and on the moving truck, spent 3 nights in a hotel in PA, 5 days in a hotel in Texas, put in all new carpet and we’re moved in. It’s been a whirlwind of two weeks but we made it.

Most of the main level of the house is unpacked now. I’ve got a few more things in the boys’ room to figure out and the play area to unpack but we’re making head way. Moving a family of five across the US is not an easy feat but here we are. I’m looking forward to feeling fully settled in but I’m happy with the progress we’re making.

Not having a basement is new to us here but with our walk-out attic spaces, I think we’ll be just fine. We did a lot of consolidating before we moved with stuff we didn’t need to bring and it all fits in one room, so our two attic spaces will be more than enough. I’m feeling good about it.

On our first day at the house we found a tarantula on the house. That was pretty exciting. The neighbors said they have never seen one in our area before so that’s exciting. We have not seen any others since. It made me think of the little lady that lived next to my great grandma Faye named Helen, who told me once when I was about 7 or 8 that she played with the the tarantulas growing up.

Anyways, our neighborhood is filled with extremely friendly people. On the first day we had the house, we met two sets of neighbors and their children. The day we moved in we met the other neighbors next to us and this last weekend one of the neighbors across the street brought us cookies. Everyone has known children. We wanted to have a street of young families and that is exactly what God provided.

For being in the house a week now and being gone from our PA house for almost two, I’d say we’re doing pretty good. We’re settling into change and finding a bit of our new normal. The kids are all adjusting well to the new house and feel pretty at ease, which is all we can ask for.

I think we’re going to all be just fine here. ❤️
