Life Lately
When the calendar switched over the April last Friday it felt like a great big exhale. March was a rough one filled with lots of things tossed our way all at once. A was sick one week, we had bit of a dog scrap that landed us unexpectedly at the vet. Then my grandma was diagnosed with Myelodysplastic Syndrome which has turned into acute leukemia. Only two days after she learned of that news, she started chemotherapy for that. As some of you know, she already has non-Hodgkin Lymphoma. Another form of cancer is the last thing she needed but we are keeping our hopes high and prayers strong. It was a long month. Really the month as a whole wasn’t horrible, there just seemed to be a new source of roughness that came with it.
Easter was refreshing and fun though. We learned about the reason for Easter and all the history of it. There has been such fun and joy of A knowing why we celebrate the things that we do. Easter morning was exciting as we Easter eggs were hunted and baskets were discovered. I love making memories with our kids. A loved the bunnies I ordered the kids this year which made me feel good since I hoped she would. We also let her watch “The Easter Bunny is Coming to Town” which is something I watched and loved growing up and she did too. We’re still hiding and hunting eggs around here which sounds silly but the kids are enjoying it. I’ll probably hide them back away soon.
We have been enjoying the beautiful weather here in Colorado and watching our flowers bloom all around us. We got some crazy snowstorm last month that shut down all the highways which was insane. We haven’t had something like that happen since 2007. In true Colorado fashion though, it looked like it never happened two days later though. The weather has been pretty decent since though.
We kicked off April by enjoying some sunshine and open windows throughout the house. Open windows in the house is definitely in my top 10 things of life list. We also decided to take the kids to The White Fence Farm which is a staple here in Colorado. They enjoyed seeing the animals, checking out the restaurant, cashing in their tokens after eating dinner and playing on the playground. It had changed a little from the last time we were there but the food was just the same. Yum, corn fritters. A also enjoyed watching the live band that they had playing and picking out a piece of candy from Granny’s. We watched the ducks and played on the playground for a good while after eating dinner. Ryan and I both went there with our families growing up so it was fun to take them. We also got an awesome afternoon nap time date which was a lot of fun, I can’t wait to share more with you later this week. Our life has been full of juggling nap times lately and it seems that right about the time that it’s time for A’s nap B wakes up from him so getting lucky enough for them both to get naps at the same time was awesome and much needed.
