Upcycled Flying Bats
I love keeping recyclables on hand for quick crafting projects. Toilet Paper & Paper Towel rolls, clean egg cartons (I a very careful to make sure there isn’t any egg on the ones I keep), plastic bottles, etc. These are all great for having on hands to make fun projects out of. While finishing up an egg carton the other day I had an idea perfect for Halloween – bats made from toilet paper rolls and egg carton shells, so that’s exactly what we did yesterday! They took a little prep work on my end (cutting up the carton) but were a lot of fun to make and turned out super cute!
What You Need for Each Bat:
- Toilet Paper Roll
- 2 Egg Holders in increments of 2
- Glue (I used hot glue for the wings and body)
- Black Paint
- Googly Eyes
- String or fishing line
Directions (look images below directions for visual help):
- Once the egg carton is cut into holders of two with the center peaks cut off, cut the smooth side into peaks
- Glue them onto the toilet paper roll
- At the top of the bat fold in the centers so they come together and make “ears” on both ends. Put a dab of glue in the center.
- Paint the bat black or whatever color you choose
- Let Dry
- Glue on Eyes (or paint them on!)
- Attach your string (I used a dab of glue and let dry)
- Hang and Enjoy!
We hung one right side up and one upside down because they worked out that way. We have them hanging above our dining room table for some extra Halloween fun!
